A timid assistant in a London power station becomes obsessed with the massive dynamo he tends, gradually coming to worship it as a god. As his reverence deepens, he begins to see the machine as a divine force capable of judgment and wrath. Tensions rise between the assistant and his abusive supervisor, culminating in a disturbing act of devotion. The story explores themes of industrialization, alienation, and misplaced faith. It’s a dark, symbolic tale of man’s submission to the power he creates.
