After a shipwreck, literary critic Humphrey van Weyden is rescued by a sealing ship captained by the brutal and intellectual Wolf Larsen. Trapped aboard, Humphrey endures hardship, violence, and philosophical debates about life and morality. As he grows stronger and more independent, he must eventually confront Larsen and take control of his fate. The novel explores survival, transformation, and the battle of wills between two very different men. It’s one of London’s most intense and psychologically rich sea adventures.
